Katate Aya Mochi Ikkajo Osae-1
Katate Aya Mochi Shomen Iriminage-2

Note:
Class of 6. I come to realize...I do not see the circle to get Nikajo so well...there must be precise lines for it, even my Nikajo gets better if I start seeing it...

I'm in a maze of Hiriki no Yosei-2 right now... : )

125:Thursday 5:45 : April 27, 2006

Technique:

all the must techniques for the test (6 techniques 1 & 2)

Coincidentally, so many Suwari techniques... Overall, it went all right, its good to go through one after another, and not worry about too much in details (sometime...)

...I was like a body without brain...I felt like being stuck...maybe from the variation of training. Well, its one of the things I'd like to try to see through training, and I trust I will find a way to deal with. : )

Sunday, April 23, 2006

120:Saturday 6:15: April 22, 2006

Practice to push with hips

Katate Mochi Sokumen Iriminage-1
Shomen Uchi Sokumen Iriminage-2
Hiji Mochi Sokumen Iriminage-1

With Tanto,
Shomen Tsuki Sokumen Iriminage-1

Note:
Class of 4, I was tired from the beginning of the class... ; ) and it was Sokumen Iriminage, which I find it very very difficult, or it even feels like get more difficult every time I do it...

Boy! that Hiriki no Yosei (with long pause) was hard! My mind was saying, "really?, really?" while we kept in positions. Now, I'm in a phase for finding the way to make Hiriki no Yosei-2 stronger, meaning I find it mine so weak...1 is still difficult, yet i can see the way to move from the back better...

I suck the most with sokumen iriminage-2 with any attack...I sucked again, I train again...

The last 30 mins, the only thing I could do was to get up and do the technique...I had no choice being unable to think of anything else...then it was over : )

It was a long day, yet it was a good day : )

119:Saturday 1:00 : April 22, 2006

研修クラス

Basic:
Hiriki no Yosei-1 with partner
Hiriki no Yosei-2 with partner

Technique:
Yokomen Uchi Nikajo Osae-1
Yokomen Uchi Shomen Iriminage-2(Kagari geiko)
Yokomen Uchi Kokyu Nage (Kagari geiko)

Nikajo Practice

Note:
Class of 10 (?) with different people from 10:00. Very precise advice on my YOKOMEN.
Punch is to come in the center, block is just a block. it was quite hard not to watch the block, yet thanks to that black belt person I trained with, I started getting the sense of it by the end.

The person I trained with taught me a lot in details, its really hard to remember and do all those things at a time! Kagarigeiko with lots of people I never trained with is a great practice! I missed flipping from that person I was training the rest of the class, whose black belt could be easily over 20 years old.

The first time to do 3 classes in a row. The third one was a bit hard to keep my focus, I do need to take care of my energy to go through 3 classes in a row. Overall, it was a great experience and I will do it again!

118:Saturday 11:30 : April 22, 2006

国際クラス

Basic:
Tai no Henko-2

Technique:
Yokomen Uchi Sankajo Osae-1
Yokomen Uchi Sankajo Osae-2

Note:

Class of so many...with Senshusei (something like 30...).

This class was much closer to our regular classes since its taught in English. I couldnt help feeling more comfortable with it, did not have to switch my mind in Japanese...it should come considering the fact that I'm native in the language...yet I expect it takes a little bit of time.

Training with Senshusei was a lot of fun, it was quite nice to hear all the "Osu!" and having chances to train with all kinds of people was also fun. I was so happy to do Sankajo-1 yet Sankajo-2 because they are my best and worst!!

One of the black belt was giving me a good shot of Yokomen punch, he got stronger and stronger as he went on...I know senseis do the same but I always thought it was only because senseis were way better than we were...yet I happen to find the reason in the next class...

Tai no Henko-2: wait for the hands to come down to the point where...comes together with body, then pivot...maybe wrong, thats how I felt when sensei fixed my hands ; )

117:Saturday 10:00: April 22, 2006

研修クラス

Basic:

Breakfalls practice

Technique:
Yokomen Uchi Nikajo Osae-1
Shomen Uchi Ikkajo Osae-1
Shomen Uch Practice
Yokomen Uchi Kaiten Nage (Kagarigeiko)

Note:

Class of 10 (?) , Sensei kindly asked if I wanted to join the black belts or the whites, I asked for the black belts, it was a great fun.

Shomen Uchi: to hit it STRAIGHT to the CENTER, between the EYES!

Kagari geiko was fun, I love Kagarigeiko♪

I couldnt be as invisible as I wanted to be...yet there was no surprise, I did enjoy training with all people I never trained before. 100% mind on what I had in front, thats what I expected to have : )

At the end of the class, Kancho sensei gave a lecture...its all about Kamae, Nikajo Sankajo...the same...I still have a bit of difficulty taking words in Japanese for Aikido, still I was happy that he was there. The lecture went for 10 mins, of course we were in Seiza...i also enjoyed that vibs for people being so keen to listen : )

Friday, April 21, 2006

Katate Mochi Nikajo Osae-1

Hijishime practice

Jiyuwaza (Uke)
Gokiburi-Shomen Uchi...yet did not miss a flip! Still...I ran out after the second set...
Tip for the day: its better to flip UP not down...it gives me more time to get back in attacking, meaning more chance to get tired, to have control.

Note:

Class of 5, lots of Hajime Session... ; ) I bet sensei likes Fridays, or Hard Fridays ; )

Come to realize...this beginners' course is coming near to end!

Thursday, April 20, 2006

115:Thursday 7:00 : April 20, 2006

Basic:

Tai no Henko-2 with partner

Technique:

Katate Mochi Sokumen Iriminage-2
...and in Variation

Shomen Uchi (introduction to Jiyuwaza)

Note:
Class of 5, rain sounded so heavily when the class started but it stopped when it was over.

Tai no Henko-2 circle: its quite higher and outer than I was thinking. I almost wanted to stop doing and cry when I could not get a clue of what sensei was telling me and move him for an inch...I was released from that when sensei did it to me, and could felt the circle he was talking about... it was one of the scariest moments of all...

114:Thursday 5:45 : April 20, 2006

Basic:

Technique:

Hanmi Handachi Katate Mochi Shihonage-2
Suwariwaza Katate Mochi Yonkajo Osae-2

Suwariwaza Shomen Uchi Nikajo Osae-1

Suwariwaza Yokomen Uchi Sankajo Osae-1
Yokomen Uchi Kotegaeshi-1
Katate Mochi Hijiate Kokyunage-1

Shomen Uchi...

Note:
Class of 2, some secrets were told... : )

Katate Mochi Shihonage-2: Wrist twisting makes a big difference before even getting a hand. After the pivot, exactly the same as 1 technique.

Katate Mochi Yonkajo-2:all fingers go outside, then thumb leads back to about the center (not bringing up) , then move Uke's shoulder outside with the first big pivot, the circle keeps going with the second pivot, and the last moving forward is aiming for the outer line.

There are more and more details, the parts and the flows...interesting and fun yet difficult.

Wednesday, April 19, 2006

113:Wednesday 7:00 : April 19, 2006

Basic:

Kihon Dosa (all)

Technique:

Katate Mochi Sokumen Iriminage-1
Shomen Uchi Ikkajo Osae-2
Katate Mochi Nikajo Osae-1

Note:
Class of 7, I was simply impressed how 8 y/o remembers what she did in the last few weeks. She just does that in exact same way as before. Or she even remembers more than I do ; P
Yes, the hand movement is very very important to get Nikajo shape!

Also, how much that small girl can do with Nikajo pin! It is a good news for small people : )

112:Wednesday 5:45 : April 19, 2006

Basic:

Kihon Dosa (10 mins)

Technique:

All the MUST techniques for the test.

Note:

Class of 3.
to ask tomorrow :Hanmi Handachi Katate Mochi Shihonage-2 and Suwari Katate Yonkajo-2

For Suwari techniques, I dont think i have "moving in and pivot" right.

The more you practice, the better you get...no doubt about that.
I did Sankajo-1 for the first time in a long time, I almost lost in there, even though thats the one of 2 or 3 techniques I am proudly able to say "I know how this works" its not the same as I I can do it.

Tuesday, April 18, 2006

111:Tuesday 7:00 : April 18, 2006

Basic:
Foward Rolls
Flips

Technique:
Katate Mochi Kotegaeshi-1
Katate Mochi Kotegaeshi-2

Note:
Class of 3, I think this was my very first time learning "katate mochi kotegaeshi", very hard yet neat : )

For Kotegaeshi: Use baby finger quite strongly to make the circle while turning and going to hiriki no yosei position.

How easy to open the arms without intension, how hard to keep the same kamae everytime we start everything from.

110:Tuesday 5:45 : April 18, 2006

Basic:
Hiriki no Yosei-1
Hiriki no Yosei-2

Technique:
Suwariwaza Yokomen Uchi Shomen Iriminage-2

Shomen Tsuki Kotegaeshi-2
Hanmi Handachi Katate Mochi Shihonage-2

Note:
Class of 3, day for the 2 techniques.

Shomen Iriminage: Move in after blocking with outer knee, 180 pivot, push uke and shift to the other way, turn again, punch move the back knee and move a bit forward, inside knee forward and throw

Ushiro Ikkajo: make a small hand circle with the first pivot, keep it straight, make uke lean forward (not shite leaning forward) , get the elbow and start the bigger circle then pivot when you stuck, strat pushing the elbow to keep the circle going and land.

Shomen Tsuki Kotegaeshi: keep hiriki no yosei-2 shape

Hanmi Handachi Shihonage: Remember the shape of the hand to offer, hand first , then back knee and pivot. will continue from here tomorrow.

Yokomen uchi Jiyuwaza (10 throws: uke)

Note:
Class of 4, yesterday with sit ups, i knew push ups were coming!

kids are straight and honest...its great to train with them...some time ago, I was claimed by a 3 y/o, for neglecting kamae and bow at the end just for once, today I was claimed by a 8 y/o for not for tapping when she was trying Nikajo on me ...because she did not think she was supposed to stop until she heared me tapping : )
Things should be done, have to be done!

Thursday, April 13, 2006

106: Thursday 7:00 : April 13, 2006

Technique:
Ushirowaza Ryote Mochi Sokumen Iriminage-2
Ushirowaza Ryote Mochi Ushiro Kuzushi (?)
Ushirowaza Katate Mochi Nage

Note:
Class of 7, quite difficult Ushirowaza techniques. Sensei seemed doing it quite easily while we could nearly do the same...

It was so unexpected to do "touch the mat and go" for 2 rounds...it took a lot of it.

Yes, how to keep the energy is important, what can I do for that...

105: Thursday 5:45 : April 13, 2006

Basic:
Shumatsu Dosa-1
Shumatsu Dosa-2

Techinique:

I think I am trying to find a line or the line for the techniques, its all bits an pieces regardless to say...when it comes together, i must be able to see what to do, how to do better...I believe : )

Tuesday, April 11, 2006

102: Tuesday 7:00 : April 11, 2006

Basic:
Hiriki no Yosei-1 with partner
Hiriki no Yosei-2 with partner

Technique:
Hiji Mochi Nikajo Osae-1
Suwariwaza Hiji Mochi Nikajo Osae-1
Hiji Mochi Nikajo Osae-2

Note:
Class of 4 and senseis made 3 pairs to train.

Hiriki no Yosei: Paired with Stumpy...his arms (or even elbows) dont do anything...its all from his back leg and back.

Hiji Mochi Nikajo-1: shumatsu dosa-cut, and turn (very small turn) makes the nikajo
Suwari Niji Mochi Nikajo-1: after getting nikajo as tachi, circle the shoulder keeps uke's shoulder very low and nikajo shape

Hiji Mochi Nikajo-2: no need to push all way through, getting nikajo shape and baby finger trick brings uke all around.

Have to practice a lot more, but its really neat, think this is effective without "pain" like Katate Mochi Yonkajo.

101: Tuesday 5:45 : April 11, 2006

Basic:
Tai no Henko-1 (right and left)
Tai no Henko-2 (right and left)

Technique:

Suwariwaza Shomen Uchi Shomen Iriminage-1
Ushirowaza Ryote Mochi Ikkajo Osae-1
Jiyuwaza Practice without throw
Jiyuwaza (uke)
Yokomen Uchi Shihonage Kuzushi

Note:

Sugar and Me with Stumpy : )

The regular training is BACK! Its worth going through Embu Training, and I did have a great experience being Sensei's Uke, I sure leanred a LOT! yet I find my brain has not been functioning quite as it used to , or as much as I hope to...so Training with more variation is good to have back : )

I just need more and more time to practice simple techniques like Shomen Irimininage-1, or complicated techniques like Ushiro Ikkajo-1...or...pretty much everything.

Jiyuwaza Practice as Shite: Pivot...does it a lot.

YES!! The first time flipping from Stumpy's Udegarami! and Shihonage Kuzushi (only left side!)
I guess to let go of fear to be thrown and being hurt is to be thrown a LOT... Today, I tried to breathe more, then fotgot what to do...Brain so easily get stuck!

Monday, April 10, 2006

100: 5th Anniversary Embu : April 9, 2006

It was a great success, and so much fun!!

It was interesting to hear from the audience of aahhing, oohing or, cheering their family member when they nailed the uke on the mat. It was very clear what people see whats happening, and I was happy for us to be able to do it : )

Again (if I said this somewhere before), you can only do what you practiced...sure sometimes extra tension or vibs put some additional stuff in it, yet that also comes from what you learn in everyday training...so, I go back to train to learn more... : )

Dai Ni Technique: I almost lost for Sankajo...which I had no worry to have even a doubt of remembering...for a micro second, I did not see how to get sankajo, but that second later it came back and went all right, I think...

Tanto: All I could try to do was to go back to Kamae, and attack Stumpy right in his stomach...my world became very small and narrow during that minite or so...I find these focus very enjoyable, and I am pleased to find that I feel less fear to be thrown by teachers compare to a few months ago, still its awful scary but my body started to learn the way to get out of it instead of holding back. This should take a long time ; )

99: Saturday 6:15 : April 8, 2006

Embu Training

Dai Ni Kihon Techniques

Jiyuwaza Practice (Uke)

Note:
Class of 7...the last training before Embu!

As for myself...I felt I was doing better on Friday, yet tried not to think about it or worry about it, nothing would change the fact that whats gonna come ; )

Although...there was a BIG progress on Jiyuwaza, I was able to flip from Udegarami for the first time!!! Or...it was more like Roland sensei made me flip after throwing me with Udegarami like 5 times in a row ; P I asked him for a jiyuwaza practice for the tanto session, even though we said, "lets do it slowly and little bit", I ended up ran out of everything to attack him...as I was running out of energy to do anything else, I couldn't help thinking of "man, he's good!"
For that Udegarami 5 times in a row, I felt the difference in each time, so I could make the difference in each time, and I was able to flip the last 2 or so...super tiring and super amazing practice. According to sensei, there are ways to control your body running out of energy during those hard sessions. (Well, senseis do manage that, so it must be true) the tips are...to relax, breathe as much as you can...I will learn it : )

Friday, April 07, 2006

97& 98 : Friday 5:45 : April 7, 2006

Friday 5:45-8:00 for Embu Training!!
Because Sensei said, I'll come early tomorrow...meant you'll do the same ; )

Tanto Jiyuwaza (Uke)

Dai Ni Technique

Note:
Class started as 3 with 1 Sensei at 5:45, people kept showing up...ended up with 2 Senseis and 7 at 8:00. : )

We worked on own stuff, for over 2 hrs...it was fun.

Jiyuwaza-Uke takes a lot of it...even without being thrown! And I found its more scary to be thrown by Stumpy, he gives me less space, less control...since his Aikido is better and he's BIG.
The good thing I found is that I am not scared to flip or jump over shite with some people, not yet with everyone...it should take more time. As long as I'm in control and can flip...its just nice.

Tanto: A lot more comfortable than yesterday, not enough practice...of course...yet its better to feel better.

Dai Ni Technique: Sokumen Iriminage-2...Pull, Turn then Throw...Enough pulling should bring Uke to the right position, not so much of turning hand action...

Sankajo-2: Still having trouble with this one...LETS believe its getting better : )

Embu Training

Basic:

Self Defense

Note:

Class of 8, a group of 6 got together to train for embu the first time!

I have to say it here once...
"SENSEI!!! WE NEED YOU ON THE MAT!!", glad to see him after all. : )

Self Defense stuff, not exactly Yoshinkan-Aikido ish, yet its fun to make it work ; )
Basically, its good to know what to do (or how to kick nasty guy's ass) when it happens in the real life : )

I have been mainly watching people training for embu...its great to find that training shows in movements. For that matter, training is fair : ) That is a good thing : ) : )
Embu, as well as tests...it requires training, mabe over and over...yet its worth finding out what needs to be done, what can be done : )

One more good week to GO!

Note:

Class of 4...still someone was missing...ah...the big guy!

We had a quite nice class going through Embu techniques...I think... : )
Its just good to train with 4 of us together, which somehow doesnt happen so often this year...
I simply think its so worth doing, even by getting up insanely early...

Sokumen Iriminage-2: I dont really remember having so much trouble training for the test ( I might have said the same before...) but I feel like I have no clue everytime I do it...

Kata Mochi Ikkajo, Katate Mochi Yonkajo: These are really neat techniques, I like them both! They are quite challenging, yet its also quite effective without hurting uke so much, or even at all ; )

Flip, flip, flip...flip, flip, flip...still, have to make up my mind when I do it, yet its getting better.
