Must Techniques for the test
Jiyuwaza with Sensei after the class.
Not to come up when to make Zanshin.
Try to move Uke in a bigger circle (shihonage kuzushi)
Its not bad to be close to Uke.
To be Sensei's uke, I dont really do anything except for making a decision to flip.
Taking strong as Shite is not always bad esp. for jiyuwaza, it makes easier for uke to flip out of it.
I think...
Note:
Class of 7, JUST TEST TRAINING!! : )
I still dont know how to pace, how to design my circle when I flip out for jiyuwaza. YET, its fun to do Uke. I may hurt my muscle someday unless I learn the better way to land...I may find the better way before I get hurt... ; )

I just have to trust that it comes with training, I sometimes feel I dont even know what I'm supposed to do esp. with Kihon Dosa. Its easy to get lost in mind, so I try to trust the theory.
Still having a hard time falling backwards... with Sokumen Iriminage, not so much with Shomen Iriminage. For Ikkajo, the more I do it, the more I like it : )

Nikajo pin practice
Note:
Class of 15, 16... smaller than usual.
Good practice of Hiriki no Yosei-1, focused on "how much" to go forward. I still am try to move with my front foot rather than pushing from the back, its not bad to try one thing at a time ; )
Jiyuwaza with 2 ex-senshusei after the class. They did not throw me so hard, so it turned out to be like me flipping by myself around them...it wouldnt be the worst for the baby step stage, yet
thats what I need to work on. I meant to ask like 10 throws but I think they did more, and did not show any sign to stop because I was getting running out...
I totally ran out towards the end of the second set...couldnt help thinking, I must have asked to the wrong people...I knew the answer but I had to ask, "when you run out, what do you do?" ...the answer can not be anything other than this, " you keep going, man!"
It was a lot of fun : )

One of the hard classes, we all went speechless...even we were accused for making "so many" mistakes in techniques and Jiyuwaza to be laughable if we look back when we get to Nidan, we stayed in a good focus, (I think) we all enjoyed it very much : )

Jiyuwaza, now I am not exactly afraid of being thrown, I should start thinking of "how" to flip.
Landing on my feet ( as I usually do) is not exactly a smart idea. ( it hurts...)
To apply the tecniques, I really should stay lower and watch my balance, I "try" to make movements but its always "attempt" level.

Class of 3, Test Training. I remember training so many times for the techniques I did today when I was preparing that test. I see some I understand better some I do maybe less...yet its fun to try learning though...
As far as I do know the technique I can train along, yet its really hard to explain to the others...
Training is always fun : )
146:Wednesday 5:45 : May 17, 2006
Basic:
180 degree pivot
180 degree pivot with partner
Technique:
Jiyuwaza Practice from Katate Mochi
Jiyuwaza (Uke) NO MISS FLIPPING!! YEY!
Note:
Class of 3, Oh, Jiyuwaza Session : )
I dont seem to be able to see how Kotegaeshi "happens" when I do Shite...suppose it just takes time to go each step. In these days, I feel more fun to be thrown than to throw, probably because thats better I do at this stage. Although, I sometimes feel my body parts would break into parts when I take teachers' uke, I hit the mat quite hard and it makes "some" noise. Now, I dont really have to decide to flip since teachers' go slower with me, but I really have to let it happen, I guess I will have to have better control as uke and land as I want.
Most of all, I have to learn not to get TOO excited when I do jiyuwaza, back to Kamae : )

Jiyuwaza Practice (without throw)
Jiyuwaza (uke) with Yokomen Uchi...missed 3 flips??
Note:
Class of 6, with Sensei...things get difficult...Man! : )
Suwari Shomen Iriminage: 2 is more compleacted so I thought it to be more difficult, yet 1 is farely difficult or hard to make it solid...
Ushiro Ryote Ikkajo: There are (must be) various ways to do all the techniques, I have to find my circle for this 2 technique.
To commit to attack is harder than it sounds. Need to commit. Need to commit.

When it comes to Dai Ni...I get stuck in places...thats just where we are right now : )

Hiriki no Yosei-1
Hiriki no Yosei-2
Shumatsu Dosa-1
Shumatsu Dosa-2
Yokomen Uchi Practice
Yokomen Uchi Practice with partner
Technique:
Shomen Uchi Hijiate Kokyunage
Shomen Uchi, Take the bokken, and Cut
Shomen Uchi Shihonagekuzushi (Kagari geiko)
Note:
Class of 5 with 2 kids, and one missing person (who was at the right time at the wrong place...) The first time training in Akasaka, it went very well.
It was my third bokken class, and I felt I got slightly better than last time.
As my flipping gets better ( I believe that whats happening) , I think I can come to the point to make the angle change (even just a little bit). I still am very much working on flipping higher, yet changing the angle is also important (I think) , I think it means that I can choose to flip instead of giving everything to Shite, and not to fall down when angle is not right. Shihonage-kuzushi is very very scary (and painful) if you can not flip out of it. What I found today was to change my body angle almost to the other way, then it comes closer to flip.

Basic:
Kamae
Technique:
Shomen Uchi Shomen Iriminage-1
(in 3 attacking variation)
Jiyuwaza (Shomen Tsuki) practice: no miss flipping : )
Note:
Class of 4, very focused in Kamae, and Shomen Iriminage. I want to make my snapping at the end better.
Not so many movements involved yet I could focus on making differences, or at least I tried to make the difference.
The harder I get thrown, my body lands more on the side. I dont know what that means, but that happens with both teachers.

Shomen Tsuki Practice
Technique:
Shomen Tsuki Kata Otoshi
Shomen Tsuki Shomen Iriminage-1
Shomen Tsuki Hijiate Kokyunage-2
At the end, 3 pairs did above 3 technique while others watching in seiza.
Note:
Class of 30(?!) Its always fun to attend this Kokusai Class on Saturdays. I was glad to have a chance to practice shomen tsuki, I still dont do it well, so it really was a good chance for me.
It scared the hell out of me when we had to do these 3 techniques in front of everyone...then I got BLANK in the middle and got stuck!...yet I think I managed it somehow by the end. I really really dont know how I did it but I was very pleased to hear from a black belt person that I was good, instead of I did well, after the class.

Class of 2, I expected the class to be the test training, yet it turned out to be a beginner's class, very very interesting Ikkajo session : )
Hiriki no Yosei (after my balance being fixed by Sensei) got me........so much pain with the thigh!!! It was totally new sensational way to use muscle I felt using...wondered if I weighted correctly but did not get a chance to ask...maybe later.
Ikkajo doesnt have so much movements, yet it has so much to work on to find the fine line/point. Working on 3 was very much fun and valuable.

Note:
Class of 9 , all what Stumpy learned at a class in Hawaii. It was all fun. I dont think I got any of the techniques right, yet it was just fun to see how difficult to learn unusual movements and fun to know you actually learn it if you keep trying and they even work sometimes.
I think its good to come out of a box of Yoshinkan sometimes to see what we learn in the box.
I find Sankajo with shifting more fun to do than with pivoting for some reason.

I dont find muscle trainings fun at all, yet I do it and try to do it better since I simply believe its good for me, and it may help my body from getting injured as my joints to be gradually getting to wear out...and interestingly, the more you do it, the better you get.

Dai Ichi Kihon AGAIN!
Note:
Class of 2, with Sensei : )
Back pain got a lot better from yesterday, and I was able to train : )
Techniques should not get effected by uke's weight...I guess...yet mine gets effected everywhere... For many of 1 movements are less effected yet many 2 movements definitely are...
Katate Mochi Sokumen Iriminage-2: Everytime I learn this one, I find it very effective and economical, yet I lost that everytime...(so does all 545 buddies!) Today, again Sensei taught us how it works and its so simple after all...
Small pivot, Circle with Hand, Body goes straight ahead, then this has to work.
Good 30 mins non-stop session.

I do like Kotegaeshi a lot, yet its hard...especially the part to take Uke's balance off by making Hiriki no Yosei-2 turn, not to turn the hand over, just to slide and the baby finger the strongest.

Sensei showed us how to do it, yet it involves lots of "skipping basic movements" to make it work, I tried hard, and the person I worked with stayed with me with patience...yet I got stuck so many times!! Even though, it was interesting to participate, I hope I will do better the next time : )

It started from 10am, I thought I could handle a few drinks the night before...maybe I was wrong...when we did the rolls, I felt not so well...and got lost doing the backwards ...
The first hour was quite tough...it tells me that I really have to watch my condition ; P
The seminar went quite well, its always interesting to see people's reaction for seeing aikido for the first time. I was again thinking if you do even just a little bit of it, you can tell if you like it or not...I think its got a great aspect for what happens on the mat even in the introduction. People can see unusual movements from everyday life involve, and certainly a level of pain does it as well.

Ushirowaza Ryote Mochi Hijiate Kokyunage-1
Note:
Class of 7, Sensei's choice...Hijiate Kokyunage!
Man! Hiriki no Yosei-2...gets more difficult as I do more...right now, I am having the hardest time with this one...I can not feel where I should weight my balance on...theoretically, I know, but my body doesnt. Sensei fixed my back and front leg/knee position...the width stayed the same but goes so forward with front knee!!!
I was surprised since it got so much harder!! above the knee...it must be the better way...
Suwari -2 techniques require a neat 180 pivot on knee...which takes practice.
For Ushirowaza...it SEEMS easier to see the movement once you start seeing the circle for each technique. I dont know if i am right or not, its just the way I feel.
Shomen Uchi Hijiate Kokyunage has neat circle line. This technique can be done very very quickly, so Uke has to be prepared to be thrown in like a second. : )
Also, I'm working on flips, or still...not to just flip out, but to make a circle as the way I want to...sometimes higher, sometimes further... I expect this to take sometime, the first step of my flip took about 6 months just to get the feeling of "I can flip!"... to be in control of flipping requires "speed", I think...I think now : )

千田先生講習会 : 持ち手
Basic:
Kihon Dosa
Tai no Henko-1
Tai no Henko-2
Hiriki no Yosei-1
Hiriki no Yosei-2
It was all Mochi-te
Kata Mochi
Mune Mochi
Katate Mochi
Hiji Mochi
Technique:
None
Note:
Many many many people on the mat... like a hundred?? We, white belts were such minority!
Time passed very quickly, working on such details...made my brain very very tired...
I should remember more of it, but one thing I remember is that "set the center, and that stays"
A lady who I trained with for Katate mochi Ikkajo impressed me a lot, she had a very neat precise circle, it just made sense when she did it, but the otherway around...
Katate Mochi for Yonkajo was very very neat, wonder if I still remember how to do it...
Towards the end, I started getting confused which one was for which...got stuck many times just to figure it out what to do next...then started to lose my balance and all...
Every thing Sensei does looks quite easy, of course none of it was easy for me to do...
